Week 8

What another fun filled and busy week! The children have become so independent, both within the classroom and when carrying out their writing and maths activities- they blow me away with how ready they are for Year One! Super proud! smiley

We have had to be extra careful this week with the very warm weather. The children have only been going outside during the day for shortened lengths of time and we have of course kept them in the shade as much as possible.

Forest School was a welcomed treat on Tuesday as we kept nice and cool underneath the trees and there was a gentle breeze. The children enjoyed reading and listening to stories together, singing (a few soloists!) and we learnt about birds nests and how long birds stay in their nests and why. What a lovely afternoon we had...

We continued with our practising for Sports Day on the Field. You'll be pleased to know we are getting much better at running in a straight line! Again, we didn't stay out too long because of the heat.

The children also had a big treat on Tuesday as we let them explore our new 'trim trail' for the very first time. The treat was for being....SUPER STARS! smiley

We have been continuing with our text 'The Naughty Bus' in our Literacy lessons. We have been gathering vocabulary to describe the bus and putting this vocabulary into sentences. We began writing a WANTED poster for the Naughty Bus- please do look out for him!

In our Maths lessons we have revisited our learning on doubles. We have been using our Rekenreks to help us. We have also been investigating odd and even numbers. We found out that we can only make doubles using even numbers!

Please continue to apply sun cream before school starts and remember to send in a named sun hat and water bottle, helping us to keep the children safe in the sun.

Thank you once again and enjoy a lovely weekend.
