Week 4

Week 4

This week, we have been talking about our family. Thank you to all of the families who sent in photos, the children really enjoyed hearing about each-others families. We are learning to become more confident to speak out on front of a small group.

In forest school this week, the children were encouraged to use items found in forest school to replicate a face. The children were able to name the features of a face, how many they can see and then to put it altogether to make a face.

In maths so far, we have been learning to count y rote to 5. We have done this by learning and singing nursery songs. This week we moved on to subitizing. The children are encouraged to name how many they see (1, 2 or 3) without having to count. This is a skill that all young children have, and can be hard and tempting to count, even though we know already how many we can see! You could practice this further by rolling dice (up to three). Can the children tell you how many they see without having to count the spots.
