Week 12

We are really enjoying our final couple of weeks in Reception. We have continued with our daily phonics lessons and the children have been 'WOWing' me with their wonderful independent writing. In Maths this week we have been re-capping and consolidating our number work, and using our Rekenreks to find missing numbers.

In our literacy lessons this week we have been using adjectives to write descriptive sentences about bikes. We have looked at lots of different types of bikes and have gathered lots of adjectives to describe them e.g. bright, blue, big, round, shiny, pointy. This has linked in to our new text Mrs Armitage on Wheels.

Reading Books

We have now collected in all reading books ready for the Summer. If you do find any more school books at home please do send them back in. We would love for the children to continue their reading over the Summer holidays. The library offer a free Summer reading challenge which is always very popular- why not take a look!

It makes me really proud to look back to September and compare to this point in the year, where many of our children have become such confident readers. They tackle many longer words with such confidence. It is truly a pleasure to watch and I wish to thank you for all of the support you give at home by listening to your child read.

A few photos from throughout the week...

The children are now really eager and ready to move into Year 1. I am so pleased to be taking this class with me, not only do I know them so well and know how capable they are of achieving great things, I also know that they are a fantastic class and I am one very lucky teacher! smiley

I wish to thank you all for your lovely words of congratulations on the door this morning, I truly do appreciate it.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Parker & The RP Team
