Thank you once again to all those who were able to attend our Reading Morning this Wednesday. It is a delight to see the children welcoming you into their classroom and I'm sure you'll agree that they are all becoming such fantastic readers! It is a lovely morning which I'm sure you enjoy as much as we do.
We enjoy doing lots of art and crafts in class but this week we have been focussing on Winter art work which has helped us to put up a wonderful display in the corridor. The children have also enjoyed creating models of their homes using joining skills they have previously learnt.
This week in Forest School the children thought about how birds keep warm during the Winter time. We talked about birds that stay in the UK all year round and birds that fly a long way to spend winter in the UK. The children enjoyed some listening games at Base Camp, listening out for different birds.
We have continued to write some independent sentences this week. I am delighted to see the children using their phonics knowledge in their writing, remembering to hold their pencil properly and form their letters correctly! Amazing!
This week we have been looking at how numbers are made up, including the numbers within numbers! For example we know that 6 is 5 and 1 more, as 7 is 5 and 2 more. We have continued to explore our understanding of pairs of numbers that make 5.
This week the children imagined they were travelling through the wood that surrounds the three bears house after reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They learnt to travel in different ways including jogging and skipping. We even had to jump over the stream and rolling logs and duck under the tree branches. We then practised different rolls including barrel and straight rolls. What fun!
A BIG THANK YOU to all of our Parent helpers who made our local walk possible on Friday morning! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Have a relaxing weekend,
