Week 2

Feeling hot, hot, hot!

What a busy week! We have been running, building, writing and trying to keep cool. Water bottles are filled up regularly and we having dedicated stop and drink times to ensure that everyone is drinking throughout the day.

Running!

This week we started practising for sports day. Sadly, the grass was a little wet on Monday morning so we had to make do with the hall. We practised running from coloured cone to coloured cone in a straight line - easier said than done. We then practised balancing a bean bag on our heads.

Guided reading

I thought I would share a snapshot of what a typical reading session looks like. Each week every group reads three times with different adults in different places in the classroom. On the other two days they take part in a fine motor activity - today was sticklebrick building and stickers on patterns. Today some of the children were practising reading with expression and some of them were answering comprehension questions.

Ticket to ride

This week we thought about road transport and made our own maps for our cars to drive on. We also learnt a little bit about pirate ships as we wanted to find out more about them.

Patterns, playdough and playing games

This week we have been creative with the playdough, made patterns in the maths area, played games with Mrs Rushton and had lots of fun!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and the sun shines - especially on Father's Day!

Please ensure that your child has  a drink bottle, sunhat and if the weather turns  a coat next week.
