Week 3

Week 3

This week we have been thinking about how animals cope with the colder months, practising our handwriting and retelling the story, The Three Little Pigs.

Forest School

This week in forest school the children have been learning about animals during the colder months. The children enjoyed building leaf houses for hedgehogs, searching for nuts and seeds for squirrels and looking for minibeasts under logs. We found woodlice, worms and centipedes!

Handwriting

The children have been practising their handwriting this week. We have been thinking about how to form each letter correctly during our phonics sessions. On Friday, each child will take home with them a 'home phonics book'. This book can stay at home and is an opportunity for your child to practice writing their letters at home. You can download a copy of a letter formation sheet below.

Three Little Pigs

The children are really enjoying our key text, The Three Little Pigs. They have liked retelling the story in forest school, and in the classroom. We have also explored the different materials that the houses were made from (straw, sticks and bricks).

Sticking Together

The children have been joining materials together using PVA glue this week. They have been exploring the differences between this type of glue and glue sticks.

This week we have been reading...

Suddenly! By Colin McNaughton. The children really enjoyed the misfortune of the Big Bad Wolf!

Have a great weekend!
