Week 7
Wonderful week 7!
Another amazing and super busy week. This week we have been looking at signs of Autumn. We started by going on a walk before Forest School to look for trees that lose their leaves - deciduous and those that keep their leaves - evergreen. We are going to recreate the walk in a few weeks to see what has changed.
Marvellous Maths
This week in lessons we have been using the two stem sentence ______ has more than _____ and ______ has fewer than_______. In class we have been subitising and using number blobs to compare amounts.
This week's sounds
This week we learnt 4 more new phonemes and practised writing their associated grapheme too. Next week we will be revising all the sounds that we have learnt so far and I will be assessing children on their progress. This will ensure that we have the right book for your child both in class and at home but will also provide us with the information we need to provide appropriate catch up.
Signs of Autumn
This week we have enjoyed finding out all about hedgehogs, creating collages with leaves and painting pumpkins - at one stage we actually painted the pumpkins not the paper!
Special visitor
This week we had a special visitor who came into class to meet us. Bonnie the school dog will be visiting us every week to share a story. She is a really calm dog and the children loved being with her. This week she listened to Pumpkin Soup.
Packets please!
Next week we are creating a special piece of art for Chawson Arts Week but we need yo9ur help. Please can we have
empty crisp packets
the wrapping from multipacks of crisps
wrapping from outside of multipack chocolate biscuits (penguins, kitkats etc)
bread wrapping
chocolate bar wrapping
Thank you in advance
Next week
Homework and library books will go out on next Thursday as will reading books.
Remember to record every read of your child's reading book. We expect children to read each book 2 or 3 times as this supports fluency.
Have a wonderful weekend
