Week 5

Skeletons, Sounds and Funny Bones!

What a fabulous week we have all had. Learning new phonemes, looking at the numbers 1,2 3 and 4 in maths and having our school photographs taken.

Our bodies

This week we have continued to look at our bodies. We have cut out, drawn and traced skeletons in continuous provision. In our lessons this week we have discussed some of our organs and what they do including our brain, lungs and heart. We have started to think about looking after our bodies including drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet.

Keeping fit and healthy

The children all raised their heartbeats this week while getting to grips with some ball skills including rolling, dropping and catching and bouncing.

Funny Bones

This week we have been enjoying retelling the story of funny bones. We love the repetitive language and can't wait to learn the whole of the introduction to the book.

Phonemes g,o,c and k

This week we have added 4 more sounds to our phonics lessons. We are all working hard to trying to recall all of the sounds we have learnt and are listening to how to segment and blend in our lessons. Please practise the sounds we have learnt at home. We have also introduced our first tricky word - is. These words need to be learnt by sight as we can't segment them into known sounds.

Also this week...

Some photos of some of the things we have been doing.

Other information

Parent's Evenings are next week. Please don't be offended if we have to stop talking as time has run out. I have a lot of appointments both nights and I try to stay on time to stop people having to wait.

Have a wonderful weekend. If the weather forecast if to be believed it might be sunny...
