Week 1
Arts Week
It was lovely to welcome the children back into the classroom this week after half term. They were all refreshed and raring to go which was wonderful to see.
We started this half term with a very exciting Arts Week and have been learning about what the Arts means and trying our hand at some of the different elements too.
Willow weaving
We started the week by taking part in a willow weaving workshop. The children started by adding willow to a huge tree trunk which now has huge branches and is currently in the infant hall. We also made fish with the help of an adult and we made wands!
Dance
On Wednesday we took part in a dance workshop led by the ENTW9 dance school. One of their teachers took us through a whole afternoon of learning to move and listen to the music. We loved it!
Drama Workshop
On Thursday Miss White, Chawson's own drama expert, taught us all about performers and audiences. We learnt how to speak with different emotions and loved performing our own names to the rest of the class.
Assembly
On Friday the whole school is gathering to share music, dance and poetry. We will be performing our own poem by this year's children's laureate Joseph Coelho and a piece of body percussion entitled rain.
Firework fun and staying safe
We have enjoyed looking at fireworks this week and discussed how to stay safe at the weekend if using sparklers.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend
