Week 11

Bread Making!

This week, following on from our work on The Little Red Hen, we decided to make our very own bread rolls, just like the Little Red Hen did in the story!

We all had a turn at mixing the ingredients together, kneading the dough and finally, when it was ready we put it into the oven - the smell was delicious! Hopefully it made it home in one piece so that you could try it too! Some of the children have been telling me how they enjoyed it that evening with butter, jam, lemon curd and even chocolate spread- yummy!

Phonics

This week we have learnt the following new phonemes (sounds): 'z', 'qu' and 'ch'. The children are getting very confident at sound talking and blending new words, their reading is certainly very impressive! Towards the end of our phonics sessions the children now go to sit at their tables to spell and write new words, they really are getting so great at writing now - we are all very proud smiley

Repeating Patterns

As part of our Maths lessons we have been learning about repeating patterns with two or three parts (look out for this week's Home Learning on this!). In our provision the children have enjoyed going over to our Maths area to create their own repeating patterns using our sorting stones and cubes. I think they are great! smiley

How can we stick these together?

The children have been learning new ways to attach things together. Last week we learnt how to use glue sticks and PVA glue properly to stick pieces of paper together, this week we used cellotape and some of us even created an opening door on our paper using our new skills. The children really enjoyed doing this in our Creative area.

Forest School

We found a gap in the rain to enjoy getting out into Forest School this week. The children played a game of 'Hide the Object'. We had to hunt around Forest School finding the missing object- it was quite tricky! We also enjoyed exploring and singing songs at Base Camp.

A Bundle of Joy

You should now have received by email a letter regarding our Christmas Performance: A Bundle of Joy. The children have been busy practising the songs and are ready to start rehearsals in the hall next week!

The performances will take place on:

Tuesday 13th December at 2pm

Wednesday 14th December at 9am

We will give out the tickets on Monday 28th November and please note that school will be providing the costumes

Thank you once again for your continued support and please do come to speak to us if you have any questions.

Enjoy the weekend!
