Week 2

What a wonderful week!

I can't believe that we are nearly at the end of the second week. It has been wonderful getting to know all your children and they haven't failed to impress us with how well they have settled into the class routines. This week we have been learning our listening skills and practising sitting still, looking at and listening to the person talking. They are beginning to learn where their home tables are and have begun to collect their book bags and belongings independently at the end of the day.

Reading

This week you will have received your child's  first reading book or descriptive picture to share as well as  their Home Reading Record. Please record every time you share the school book together. Every 5 reads will receive a sticker and every 15 a special visit to Miss Peck for a sticker from her. As we progress through the term there is no pressure to read every night. We understand that children have after school clubs and lessons, family commitments or sometimes they are simply too tired. However, reading at home at least 3 times a week will really help your child on their learning to read journey and we really appreciate your support. Please return your reading workshop slips to learn more about our phonics scheme and how we teach children to read.

Phonics

This week we have learn 4 new phonemes (sounds). Have a look at how we prounounce them and the formation phrase for writing too. Please note that 't' and 'p' are very quiet and don't have an 'uh' sound after them.
