Week 8

Frozen Planet

When we arrived in school on Monday morning after the Half Term break we found a mysterious box in our classroom! We were all very intrigued to find out what was inside. To our surprise there was a rather worried, yet friendly looking penguin! We sat very quietly and asked the shy penguin lots of questions...Where did he come from? Was it hot or cold there? Does he miss his family? What does he eat?

We wanted to find out as much as we could about where the penguin lived to get him home safely. We used a globe to find the South Pole and thought he may live in Antarctica. We wanted to find out as much as we could about him. The children were keen to dive right into our new topic, 'Frozen Planet'.

We then started to read our new book 'Lost and Found', all about a penguin who was lost and ended up making a new friend. We thought about how the penguin may be feeling and discussed what we would take with us if we were to go on an adventure.

This week in P.E we began our new unit on Dance. We learnt new moves using ideas from a Seaside postcard and put all of our moves together to form a short dance routine. The children had some fantastic ideas!

In Forest School this week we discussed the signs of Spring. We talked about the Seasons and how we know that Spring is on it's way. We were lucky enough to see some new buds opening on the trees and some beautiful daffodils. Well done children!

We have been thinking about what it means to persevere this week, especially when trying new things or trying to achieve a particular goal. The children are working hard and are getting much better at this.

World Book Day

What a fantastic World Book Day we had on Thursday. The children all looked amazing in their different costumes! We enjoyed sharing lots of different books from home, some of which we hadn't read before! We also enjoyed designing our own book front covers. Well done everyone! smiley

What a positive start we have had to the new Half Term. The children have come back happy and eager to learn.

Have a relaxing weekend,

Miss Parker and the RP Team smiley
