Week 5

Sport, splashing and fantastic fun

This week has been filled with lots more fun. We have started a new book in English, met new numberblocks in maths and learnt 4 new phonemes. We're enjoying our guided reading sessions and I was so excited to hear the children start to segment and blend their words together. One member of the class segmented, blended the word together and then exclaimed - I'm reading!

We have created our own maps, read stories, mixed paint in the puddles and explored conkers and acorns.

Learning to talk

Our school is part of a wonderful programme called Voice 21 that promotes the teaching of oracy (learning to express yourself) We started this week by using our talk partners in English. Facing each other and taking turns to talk.

Sport for schools - sponsored event

We were all excited to meet a GB athlete - Lucy Renshaw who competes in Judo across the world. We were amazing at doing all the activities and listened really well too!

Phonics

This week we have learnt the following sounds.

Home Learning

This week you will be given a small bag - not your home learning book to take home and fill with autumnal treasures. We can't wait to see them next week.

Thank you for those that have already completed your parents evening requests. Our first parents evening is on Tuesday 1st and Thursday 3rd November. This will be a short 10 minutes consultations to discuss how your child is settling into life in reception. Appointment time slips will be allocated and put into book bags next week.

Have a wonderful weekend

Mrs Rudkin and the dazzling RR team!
