Week 2 - On the Farm
On the Farm!
This weeks blog is a farm special, all about our visit to Oversley Farm. The children had the best couple of days and here is a run down of what we got up to.
Making bread
The children arrived and we learnt how to make bread, we spoke about how the farm grows wheat which then gets turned into flour - a key ingredient to making bread. We also made butter by shaking a bottle of cream which the children loved! We then tasted the bread and butter at the end of the day.
Feeding the cows
The children then fed the cows in the cow shed and learnt lots of amazing cow facts! They were fascinated with the thought of cows having four stomachs!
Looking after the sheep
The children then helped the farmers look after the sheep in the fields. They really enjoyed learning how the ewes looked after the lambs!
Playtime!
The children spent the afternoon going on a trailer ride and playing in the orchard - which they loved!
The children had an amazing time which has sparked their interest in our topic 'Come Outside'.
