Week 4

Winter wonderland

After thinking about Chinese New Year last week we have delved back into thinking about Winter. On Monday we learnt all about how birds survive in winter and how some birds migrate to different places over the winter months.

In class we have been exploring winter playdoh, painting on ice and tuning our fine motor skills with giant pipettes.

Wednesday Reading

This week  we welcomed in more fabulous parents and grandparents to read at school. It is lovely to hear you all reading and encouraging the children and of course a perfect opportunity to speak to myself about books and how to support your child at home.

Doors open at 8.30am and we ask adults to leave at 8.45am. Don't forget to fill in the reading record too! It all counts.

Fabulous phonics

This week we have recapped the diagraphs that we learnt last week to help embed them. We have also been focusing on learning our tricky words. Please have a go at the homework this week which focusses on learning them at home too.

Marvellous Maths

This week we have been exploring the number 6 and 7. We were so excited to meet the new Numberblocks in our lessons. We have started to look at the composition of the numbers and used double die frames to help us explore this.

Local Walk to explore types of homes

The children were all absolutely amazing on their walk in the local area. They listened carefully to the adults and had great fun ticking off all the different types of houses on their clipboards.

Also this week...

We have played games, painted our houses and made houses from blocks. We have been exploring the text 'On the Way Home' and have enjoyed predicting all the ways that Claire claims to have hurt her knee!

Have a wonderful weekend
