Week 4

Week 4

This week the children have been learning about Winter birds, revisiting previously learnt sounds and representing the numbers six and seven by learning that they are composed of '5 and a bit'.

Winter at Chawson

The children have really enjoyed learning about Winter this half-term. We have discussed what the weather has been like and learnt about how trees protect themselves during the colder months. This week the children have been learning about Winter birds. We discussed that some birds migrate, and some birds stay in the United Kingdom. We then decided to make our own bird feeders and hung them on the trees in forest school. The children have then been observing the birds that visit the trees around Chawson.

Maths

This week in Maths we have been beginning to explore 6 and 7 as numbers and how they are composed of '5 and a bit'. We have been showing 6 and 7 using our fingers and using a double dice frame to represent the numbers. Please see the examples below.

Phonics

This week we have been revisiting the sounds that we learnt last week. Here they are below...

Our local area

This half-term we have been thinking about 'where do I live?'. This week we have been learning about different houses and homes in our local area. We went on a local walk to see what we could find! The children learnt about different types of houses including detached, semi-detached and bungalows.

Have a great weekend.
