Week 7

Pumpkin Soup and all things glooooooopy!

What a spooktacular week we have had getting creative with pumpkins, and all things gloooopy! We have enjoyed making our own pumpkin potions and pumpkin soup! I can't believe that we are already coming to the end of our first half term in school. I feel immensely proud of how well the children have all settled in, made wonderful friends and have done some super learning. What a lucky Miss Parker I am! smiley

Harvest Festival

The children started their week by taking part in their very first whole school assembly in the hall. They all sat so well and then sang their Harvest song to the rest of the school so brilliantly! Again, we were so proud of them all. Thank you all for your generous donations for the Foodbank, it is very much appreciated.

Halloween Safety

This week we have talked about our plans for Half Term and also talked about ways in which we can stay safe, especially if going out Trick or Treating, pumpkin carving or going to Halloween Parties. The children were all very sensible when we came up with our list of how we could stay safe - please ask them about this at home!

Forest School

In Forest School this week we had a great time making natural paint brushes. The children found a stick and then we attached leaves to the top of the stick using a pipe cleaner to make our very own paint brushes. We then used water and mud to paint the tree trunks and branches in our wonderful Forest School. What fun we had!

Funny Bones

We continued to explore the story of Funny Bones and even learnt to re-tell the opening part of the story using our story board we created together. Please see the video of the children, I'm sure you'll agree they did an amazing first performance!

Keeping our teeth healthy!

In class we have been discussing ways in which we can keep our teeth healthy. The children were very good and came up with lots of great ideas including brushing them at least twice a day for two minutes, eating healthily and avoiding sugary drinks...let's see if they can put their great ideas into practice at home!

Home Reading

Thank you for all of the reading you have been doing at home this half term and for your lovely comments in Reading Records. Some children have already received their first reading certificate for all of the wonderful reading at home and have even visited Miss Peck to show her - let's keep this up Class RP! smiley

Parents Evening

As you aware Parents Evening is coming up during the first week back after half term (Tuesday 1st and Thursday 3rd November). You will have received a slip in your child's bookbag with your allocated time. If for some reason you have not, please come and see me as I still have a few spaces available. This is a really valuable opportunity for me to share how your child has settled in and their learning so far so please do make an appointment with me if you haven't done so already.

I hope you have a wonderfully spoooky half term break. I'm sure the children will enjoy the well deserved break and we look forward to seeing them back in school on Tuesday 1st November.

Thank you for your continued support.

Have a super Half Term!

Miss Parker smiley
