Week 1

Welcome Back

I can't quite believe that we are in the final half term. The children have settled back into our learning amazingly. This week we have started to talk about the transisition into the next year group. We created a timeline of 7 weeks at school, 6 weeks Summer holiday and then starting year 1. Next Friday they will find out who will be teaching them in Year 1 and on Monday 3rd July they will be going to their new classes for a visit. 

Maths - Rekenreks

This week we have been learning to use a new piece of equipment called a rekenrek. We have learnt the correct way to hold it and how to reset it. We have also learnt how to move the beads carefully one at a time or several at a time. We will be using them over the next few weeks too.

Writing

This week we have been writing about our favourite toys. The children have really enjoyed creating sentences about something that is special to them. They have also been completing their own independent writing in the writing area.

Amazing construction

Look at this amazing construction. The children worked very hard to complete their creations and then let other children explore them.

Terrific Transport

This half term our topic is called 'Ticket to ride' and we are focusing on different transport. A conversation about a rocket in the car box sparked a whole conversation about travelling to the moon and so we decided to watch a shuttle launch. it was very exciting.

This half term

We will be practising our sport day events ready for Sports Day on Friday 7th July.

Please pop a named sunhat in your child's bookbag ready for playing outside at lunchtime. Please leave sunglasses at home.
