Week 2

Fun at the Farm!

This week the children got to experience their first school trip and what an excellent day we had! The behaviour of all children was impeccable and we were all so very proud smiley

As if the coach journey wasn't exciting enough, we then entered a family run farm 'Oversley Hill Farm' where there was so much to explore.

We began by grinding wheat to make our very own bread and all had a go at churning the butter- this bread tasted lovely at the end of our day after it had baked. It reminded us of the story 'The Little Red Hen' and we thought about what was needed to make bread.

We experienced some very friendly lambs, they came up very close and we enjoyed stroking them and feeding them. We were even lucky enough to see a Bull on the farm! We also went to see the cows who were again very friendly, we got to know their names and began to stroke and feed them. The children were all very brave!

After lunch we got to play in the Orchard, the children had great fun being free and running around playing games.

We then got to go on a real life Tractor ride! Farmer Chris took us in his trailer to see more sheep and lambs in the larger field. We held on tight and saw a large duck pond on our way!

We couldn't believe how quickly our day went- after our warm, tasty bread it was time to get back on our coach. A few of the children fell asleep on the way back to school!

What a marvellous day we had- we came back to school very tired but really happy! What a great way to kick start our new topic 'Come Outdoors!'.

Thank you again to our wonderful parent helpers- we hope you enjoyed yourselves too!
