Chawson First School – Autumn Term 2025 Improvement Focus

This term, Chawson First School is focusing on key areas to support every child’s learning and progress:

• Phonics & Early Reading: Strengthening phonics teaching in Reception and Year 1 to ensure more children meet the expected standard.
• Writing: Improving writing across the school, especially in Years 1 and 4, with a focus on spelling, handwriting, and planning.
• Support for SEND Pupils: Enhancing adaptive teaching and targeted support to help children with additional needs make strong progress.
• Learning Environments: Creating engaging reading corners and well-resourced intervention spaces to foster a love of reading and support learning.

These priorities aim to ensure all children feel confident, make good progress, and enjoy their learning.
