Week 7
Last blog of the year...
Yesterday as I waved the children off for the last time I was struck by how far they have all come. Removing their photos from the frames and seeing their faces from that first week I looked around the classroom as they were all exploring and thought how much they have changed.
I am incredibly proud of how much they have all achieved this year, learning to read and form letters, read and write sentences, count, subitise and create patterns.
Last PE of the year!
As the field was being used for the Year 2 1960's day we opted to do our PE inside and chose to do dance as we have loved doing it over the year. We learnt three new dances and had a lot of fun. We all lay down at the end to do some yoga breathing as we were so tired!

Smartie Challenge Winners
Did you know that RR were the overall Smartie Challenge Winners! The CFSA provided us with a bubble party followed by a cool down with an ice pop. The children had great fun.

Ice cream anyone?
The children had great fun making pretend ice cream cones.

Stuck for Summer Ideas?
We asked the children what they would like to do over the Summer Holidays and here are a few of their ideas...
- eat ice cream
- play in the paddling pool
- go to the beach
- visit the splash pad
- slippy slide fun
- have a BBQ
- have a water fight
- build a sandcastle
- eat an ice lolly
- play with friends
- go swimming
- have a picnic
- relax!
Some super ideas I think you'll all agree.
Summer Holidays
I hope you all have a super holiday. Of course I want the children to relax but I know that skills fade if not practised so here are a few ideas to keep those skills sharp and ready for September.
- Practise your phonics. Visit the little Wandle website on the parents page for pronunciation guidelines.
- Read - the library has lots of beginning reading books to keep those skills fresh. They have learnt phase 2 and phase 3 phonics for reference.
- Count - count when you're playing, putting the shells in the bucket.
Thank you
Thank you for a fantastic year. Thank you to my amazing team of Teaching Assistants who have helped the class this year - couldn't do it without you.
