Week 5
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
We can hardly believe that its December already - where has the time gone?
The children looked amazing in their Christmas jumpers this week – look out for another Christmas jumper date as we will wear them to record our Christmas song for the Chawson 12 days of Christmas!
This week we awaited the arrival of a special visitor - our own classroom Elf. He wrote a letter announcing his arrival and asked us to name him which we did by writing all the children’s ideas down and then pulling an entry out of the hat. Newly named ‘Sammy the Elf’ arrived on December the 1st with a present of an advent calendar filled with delicious treats and a few extra so everyone can have one. On the 2nd he gave us a present of some water beads – which were great fun. We have been enjoying writing letters to him and practicing writing our names on post stick notes too.
This week we introduced 4 more letters and sounds. As we introduced the sounds, we thought of words that start with that letter and then practiced writing the sound in our new phonics books. Each letter has a little rhyme to help formation. We are so impressed with how well the children are forming their letters and using the rhymes to help.
We are continuing to use our outdoor provision; forest school and playground so please make sure that your child has a suitable coat and maybe a hat and gloves/mittens.
Have a wonderful weekend
I can’t wait to meet your sticks on Monday!
