In class RB this week, we have been enjoying the story of the Little Red Hen, who tries to ask for help when making a loaf of bread, but she ends up doing it all by herself. We were lucky enough to try some bread on Monday as we had a special delivery from The Little Red Hen!
The children have tried incredibly hard to learn the order of the story and the particular actions that match the repeated phrases. Here are some of the children’s favourite parts of the story:
'I like when the Little Red Hen eats the bread at the end of the story.' - Oliver
'I like it when the Little Red Hen kneads the bread.' - Freddie
'I like doing the actions.' - Samuel
'I like it when we draw the story map.'
'I like it when the Little Red Hen eats all the bread.' - Daisy
Listening and telling stories is an important part of the children’s language development in Reception. We have attached a copy of the Little Red Hen story for you to try at home. I’m sure the children will be very excited to perform the story to their family!
Thank you again to all the parents who attended our stay and play sessions this week, the children were over the moon to see some familiar faces joining in with their play.
It’s been another week of lots of new learning. In maths we have been learning about comparing amounts. The children have been learning the words ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ when comparing two groups.
We finished of the week by learning how to make bread (just like the Little Red Hen). The children learnt all about the different ingredients and were so excited to eat their bread roll or take it home.
Finally, enjoy these amazing photos of the children having the best time in forest school.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
