Can you believe that we have already been at school 4 weeks and that it is now October?
This week we have loved welcoming lots of different parents into our class to stay and play. We threaded necklaces with them, made lots of cup of tea and some very interesting food combinations too. We also shared our new You Choose books. You Choose in Space has proved to be a big hit with all of the children. I hope that adults enjoyed it as much as we did!
We’re looking forward to our next visitors next week.
This week in Maths we have been learning all about grouping. We listened to a lovely story about a button box and helped to sort Mrs Rudkin’s buttons. Thinking about colors, sizes and numbers of holes. We then sorted out a huge tray of small animals, dinosaurs and counters. Mrs Rudkin was so pleased! We continued our grouping in Forest School and found some lovely things
Every morning we take part in Squiggle and Wiggle. This is a movement programme designed to support children’s gross motor skills (big muscle movements). This week we have been doing to up movement and down movement, five times up and five times down. We start by using a pair of scarves and move to the music. After a week we move onto the floor and using a pair of crayons and a piece of paper recreate the movements into mark making. The best bit is that each movement has a suggested playlist! This movement is to Wham – I’m your man and Katrina and the Waves – Walking on Sunshine.
This weekend perhaps you could try squiggling at home?
