Week 2
Week 2
This week we have all been getting used to our first full week. For some of us this meant being part of ‘Lunch club’ for the first time. The children have been excellent at getting into a routine. They know to wash their hands first, collect their lunchbox from the trolley and find a space to sit at the tables with their new friends. When they have finished they can enjoy a nice peaceful time, listening to calming music and reading books in our lovely book corner. We all love the bean bags to rest on!
We went to Forest school this week, and what a success it was. The children have been learning to become more independent by taking off their shoes and putting them away in their lockers. They then find their wellies on our special trolley and have a go at putting them on by themselves. During forest school this week, we were focusing on being explorers. The children were encouraged to explore the forest school area whilst remembering our safety rules and learning how to use our senses to explore the area. We enjoyed turning over the logs to find the ‘creepy crawlies’. We were very kind and put them back quickly so that we don’t disturb their home! Some of the children came up with a brilliant idea to play and seek too, which was great fun.
Whilst focusing on our key text ‘My Mum and Dad make me laugh’ we have been able to learn what ‘spots’ and ‘stripes’ are. The children have been encouraged to explore what spots and stripes are, especially during our creative activities this week. We discussed which animals have stripes and found lots of spots in the book’s illustrations. I wonder if you can hunt for spots and stripes at home? Maybe you have some patterned socks, or wallpaper or some clothing?
Have a lovely weekend everyone, we look forward to seeing you next week 😊
