Week 1

This week we started off with our older pre-schoolers visiting the local library, Droitwich Library. They all coped extremely well with the long walk, held hands the whole way with a grown up and enjoyed the story session. We were lucky enough to have some time to look through the books in the children’s area also. Perhaps you would like to join so that you can borrow books regularly?

Our new topic of Growing & Change started with a visit from a cat named Jasper. He had with him a watering can, gardening tools, a seed and some soil. The children were very keen to hear his story, Jasper and the beanstalk.  Following this, we all looked at the seed and decided to plant one in a see-through wallet by the window. I wonder what we will find next week!

During forest school, we found two frogs. The children were curious so a kind parent brought in her tadpoles and froglets for the children to see the life cycle of a frog. I wonder if you can spot the froglet on the log?!

Strengthening the muscles in our hands is very important early on as it will help us to develop us at writers later on. This week we were using tweezers to pick up and sort coloured pasta. There’s lots of ways to practice our fine-motor skills. Perhaps you could try some at home.

Next week we are carrying on our focus of Jasper & the beanstalk. We will be planting our own, individual bean seeds and looking after them. At home, you could talk about what plants need to grow.
